Opened in Fort Worth, Texas, in 2002, The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame is the only museum that honors the women who have shaped the West through courageous trailblazing. This campaign modernizes the NCM brand to align it with the more contemporary interior of its building and reconfigure its messaging, proving the strength of women and encouraging individuals to engage with the museum. Through this repositioned brand image, the NCM stands as a figure of women empowerment and aims to attract more visitors to recognize the achievements of the honored cowgirls.
One of the driving factors of this project was to refresh the NCM brand to match the building’s modern interior, interactive exhibits, and powerful spirit of the cowgirl.
In the old logo, a spur mimics a flower. However, the mark – along with the diagonally cascading text – lacks scalability and does not hold up as well in modern times. The new logo combines a rose with a “hidden” cowgirl hat and face. The goal of the logo redesign was to maintain the combination of floral and western elements while making it more contemporary and bold.
The campaign also intentionally utilizes the abbreviation “NCM.” It’s short, catchy, and rolls off the tongue. The new branding grabs attention and helps the National Cowgirl Museum proudly stand out.
